Caserta Estate demonstrates the resourceful use of two other structures to create a single historic property is innovative and allows for the successful reuse of what had been deteriorating property. Both structures used to create Caserta Estate were in the final stages of deterioration and would have been lost completely. The wood floors presented a unique challenge due to the amount of paint on the surface. The goal of the project was to restore the hundred year old wood floors, which had never been sanded before, to a condition that would be appropriate to this historic structure.
The original Caserta dated to the late 1700s and was totally destroyed in the 1970s by a bolt of lightning and a propane tank.Determined owners went looking for older structures to adopt because they had a plan.Salvaging what they could, they formed a caravan of hope, writing a new chapter of history.Determination and grit preserved what Mother Nature thought she was going to consume.The antique original wood floors began their journey of transformation.Old paints and finishes were removed and oil finishes applied to bring back lost beauty.The true character of these aged and worn floors tells its story anew thanks to homeowners with a passion and a mission.This old room will provide years of pleasure in its new life and setting.
