My addiction to old homes and house museums has enabled me to see countless fine homes all over Europe and North America. The historic value may be in who lived there, who designed it, where it was built or what occurred there. Ford House is one of those rare examples where it incorporates all four of these components and gives visitors a breathtaking and memorable experience.

Situated on the shores of Lake St. Claire in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, Ford House was built by Edsel & Eleanor Ford for their young family. It was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn in the Cotswold style and exudes a subtle elegance that offers a warm welcome to visitors. Known as Gaukler Pointe, the home provided Edsel & Eleanor Ford a wonderful backdrop for their extensive art collection and at the same time, a comfortable place to raise their family.

In the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024, Rosebud Company was charged with performing the restoration of all the wood floors on the first floor, public areas. I created this video to take you onsite so you could see what we faced, what we discovered and how we used our unique preservation technique, Passive Refinishing®, to help preserve what is arguably one of the finest private residences in this country. I hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the experience. Enjoy!
